Long wear matte lipsticks that look like a million bucks without costing a million bucks.
If you know anything about me, it’s probably that I can’t go anywhere without wearing lipstick. Seriously. If I had to pick only one makeup item to wear, it would be lipstick. Every time. I used to want shiny lips with extra gloss on top. While that’s all good in the right setting, I currently can’t get enough of matte shades. They add a cool texture and dimension that I think can really modernize an outfit. Here are my top 3 favorite (and affordable) matte lipsticks.
1. NYX Lip Lingerie
This lippie line is my go-to for nudes. The entire line is just a bunch of toned down neutrals–and I’m obsessed with them all! Plus at only $7.00 a pop you can fill up your cart without feeling guilty. My current favorite lipstick of all lipsticks is NYX Lip Lingerie in Embellishment. It’s a muted purple that’s irresistible and matches with every outfit. But you can’t go wrong with any of the shades. Because no matter what, you’ll love the smooth, creamy texture and color they offer. The best part is that they’re so easily accessible. Target, Walmart, and any drugstore should carry this line–which is great because I never want to be without it.
2. Lime Crime Velvetines Matte Liquid Lipstick
I did a full review of Lime Crime Velvetines Matte Liquid Lipstick a few weeks ago, but still wanted to reiterate this one. I can’t get enough of Jinx, which is a beautiful deep eggplant shade. (It’s the one I’m wearing for this post!) Cute packaging? Check. Velvety consistency? Check. Highly pigmented? Check. While the line usually runs you $20 for a lipstick, I have frequently seen sales on certain colors for as low as $4! Lime Crime has some serious staying power and their Velvetines line has 42 rich shades that deliver a true matte finish. What’s not to love?
3. Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color
This is an older but still adored matte lipstick choice of mine. Out of the 3 brands I’ve listed, this is the most moisturizing. It doesn’t actually dry on your lips like a stain, but rather sits on top. Because of this, it’s the only lipstick I’ve found that doesn’t dry but still has a matte finish. So if you’re someone that’s always reaching for the chapstick, this is probably the best option for you. And at just $7.49 a tube, it’s totally worth it. This lipstick applies smooth and opaque and lasts all day. I can’t believe that Maybelline can pack so much quality in for so little price. If you’re looking for a suggestion, Maybelline Color Sensational in Blushing Pout is one of my favorite baby pinks at the moment. It has neutral undertones so that it’s not that typical in-your-face type of pink. I’ve seen it some of my friends, and the color looks gorgeous on so many skin tones. Plus it’s the perfect shade for Spring!
