Today I’m sharing something a little different. For years I struggled to pick skincare products on the shelf. There are so many to choose from that it’s overwhelming! How It Works
So here’s how it all works. First, get the Home Dna skin care test kit (which comes with everything you need to complete the test at home). You can find it online or in most CVS stores.
Then just swab your cheek with the provided Q-tips, make an online Home DNA account for your results to go to, and send the samples to the lab.
The test kit comes with super easy to follow instructions, so you shouldn’t have any speed bumps along the way. The whole process took me 5-10 minutes, tops.
It takes 3 weeks for your results to come in. Be patient, because it’s so worth the wait! You’re supposed to get an alert email when your results are in, but I didn’t. Instead, at week 4, I got an email saying my kit wasn’t properly registered. Confused, I logged on to my Home DNA account and was surprised to find that my results were in fact already in and that there didn’t seem to be any issues at all! I’m not sure what happened, so I would suggest checking for results around the 3 week mark regardless of whether or not you get an email.
The Results
You’ll get personalized results in 7 areas that determine your skins genetic potential. These areas include fine lines & wrinkles, sun protection, skin sensitivity, skin elasticity, pigmentation, collagen quality, and skin antioxidants. Each area is then broken down into sub categories where your skin is rated non-ideal (below average), standard (average), or optimal (above average).
For areas that are standard or nonideal you’ll get personalized suggestions including topical ingredients, supplemental ingredients, and professional treatments to keep your skin as healthy as possible. It takes the guesswork out of buying beauty products and helps you unlock your skin’s full potential.
